Sporting achievements
The Hull Boys' Club has a history of great sporting achievement. We are proud that members of our club have gone on to win major cups and gold medals.
A few of our achievements are pictured on the left. These are:
Rugby League: Johnn Whiteley
Following an illustration playing career Johnny went on to coach and manage the Great Britain World Cup Winning Team on 1970 and is possibly the City of Hull's most famous sporting personality. Pictured here receiving the Darley Cup for outstanding achievement in 1957.
Boxing: Tommy Green
The British A.B.A. Lightweight Champion 1957, beat another Hull Boys' Club boy, Alan Peacock for the title. All was the Imperial Services Lightweight Champion at the time.
Boxing: Roger Tighe
Season 1965/66 was Roger Tighe's most successful year. IN addition to winning the A.B.A. and N.C.A.B.A. Championship trophies, he also represented teh A.B.A. agaisnt Scotland, Ireland and West Germany and won an Empire and Commonwealth Games Gold Medal.
